Counter-relief (Kaai 2013) (February 2013) 60 minutes

TEXT

Visual artist Jimmy Robert and choreographer Maria Hassabi present an extended theatrical version of their collaborative work, Counter-relief (CCS Bard 2011), developed in residence at the Kaaitheater.

Visual artist Jimmy Robert and choreographer Maria Hassabi received a collaborative commission from Bard College, curated by Kelly Kivland, to create the third iteration of Counter-relief (CCS Bard) 2011, a performance and installation inverting choreographic thinking to dissolve the distinction between the process and production of image-making. Jimmy Robert’s previous Counter-relief iterations were presented at the 5th Berlin Biennial for Contemporary Art in May 2008, and at the Kunsthalle Bern in March 2009.
